Start with the car and your time frame
A useful buying decision combines your requirements, the available alternatives and their complete costs. A generic claim that one month is always cheapest cannot tell you whether the car you need is available at a suitable price.
Recorded asking-price history can help you ask how recent quotes compare with earlier observations. It does not predict the next price change or establish a future best day to buy.
What to check before waiting
- Are the compared vehicles genuinely similar in year, trim, mileage and condition?
- Are the observations recent and from the market where you will buy?
- Is the apparent change caused by a different mix of recorded cars?
- What are the practical costs of waiting versus your current alternatives?
- Have availability and complete prices been confirmed with the seller?
Make the decision evidence-based
Compare a small set of real alternatives and document the costs you know. Use an inspection to understand condition; a low advertised price can still require substantial work.
We do not publish a seasonal forecast or a guarantee that prices will fall. If there is not enough comparable recent data, the honest conclusion is that the price direction is uncertain.
